    Post-season Checklist

Now is the time to prepare for next year's busy season. Here is a checklist of some of the tasks that will help you gear up for next spring.

    • Review last season. For colored mulch, look at yards sold versus pounds of colorant used, as well as yards produced versus yards sold. Your local BASF territory manager can help you with this analysis.
    • Inventory part I. Check your spare parts inventory and make sure common wear items are on hand.
    • Inventory part II. Assess your raw material inventory. Do you have enough to get you through next spring? How does supply compare with demand?
    • Store mulch colorant. Mix unused colorant prior to storing it for winter. Make sure to keep colorant from freezing.
    • Winterize equipment. Drain water out of all lines and pumps — no matter whether the mulch coloring machine is sitting for a weekend or the entire winter — or you risk cracking pipes.
    • Assess equipment. Determine if your mulch coloring equipment needs any repairs. Assess if each piece will make it through next season and be reliable and productive. If not, consider upgrading to a used or a new mulch coloring machine.
