Gathering for good: Sika Day 2024
Sika Day is all about doing good and having some fun along the way. Colorbiotics employees came together June 11 at the Ames facility to do just that. This year, we partnered with Meals from the Heartland to package tens of thousands of meals for families in need of nutritious food. And our teams got competitive about who could fill the most boxes!
“We’ve all been given a lot because we work for the Sika organization,” said Kent Rotert, vice president of Colorbiotics. “It’s something we get to enjoy every day. Now, it’s our chance to give back to the community, the state and the world.”
The team assembled and packaged meals that include rice, soy protein, vitamins, minerals and dried vegetables. The boxes were shipped to orphanages and schools across the U.S. and around the world.
Fun facts from the day:
- Meals packaged: 30,024
- Kids fed for entire year: 115
- Pounds of rice packed: 819
- Pounds of soy packed: 332
- Colorbiotics volunteers: 50
