Summer maintenance crucial for fall rush

In this industry, it’s common for “spring cleaning” to get pushed back to summer because of the rush of orders early in the season. As summer slows down, and fall orders are still at bay, now is the perfect time to give your equipment some TLC to ensure everything is working properly.

Throughout the busy spring and early summer seasons, your machines put in the work. Colorant Systems Manager David Roller encourages producers to assess their equipment top-to-bottom before the fall rush.

“The slower season between summer and fall is the perfect time to do maintenance on your machine,” Roller said. “Look for wear on items, such as your color pump hose, blades, liners, things on your machine that can be replaced. Make sure nothing needs to be replaced or looks out of place. The last thing you want is an emergency parts order in the middle of a busy season.”

Roller also knows machine maintenance is one of the less-exciting parts of the job, but no less crucial to business operations. That’s why Colorbiotics offers inspection services from their in-house experts. Technicans check machines, test their efficiency and can install any replacement parts as needed. Their services take a two-to-three-week lead time and can be scheduled by calling Colorbiotics’ tech service team.

The Colorbiotics website now makes it easy to order genuine parts with a few simple clicks. If you’re not sure what replacement part you need, Colorbiotics staff are one call away and happy to assist. If your machine looks good to go for fall, Roller recommends investing in a spare parts kit, so you’re prepared for whatever comes your way.

“Spare parts kits are a layer of extra protection for your business heading into busy season,” Roller said. “A problem could shut you down, and you’d have to overnight parts or pause work until you can get the issue fixed. Part of the evaluation of the machine is to go back and look at your inventory to see which parts may have been used but haven’t been replaced. Now would be a good time to do that.”

Regular machine maintenance is foundational to a smooth busy season, safe machine operation and machine durability. The experts at Colorbiotics are one call away and want to help you keep your equipment running at its best — from full service, to finding the right part, to building the perfect spare kit.
